Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former chairman, Imran Khan, has penned a letter to Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir, expressing concerns over the establishment’s current policies. The letter, reportedly sent from Adiala Jail, urges a reevaluation of the military’s approach to national security and governance, according to Express News.

In the letter, Imran Khan reportedly highlights a growing divide between the military and the public, emphasizing the need for unity to effectively combat terrorism. PTI lawyer Faisal Fareed Chaudhry, who shared the letter’s contents with journalists, stated that Khan stressed the importance of public support for the armed forces to achieve success in the fight against terrorism.

Khan also criticized the establishment for allegedly supporting individuals who have benefited from the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) in the past. The NRO refers to past political agreements that allowed certain leaders to avoid corruption charges. Additionally, he raised concerns about Pakistan’s economic challenges, the fairness of the recent general elections, and the government’s actions against his party.

The letter reportedly outlines six key points, urging the army chief to reconsider certain policies that Khan believes are fueling public resentment and widening the gap between civilians and the military. Issues such as the Protection of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), state-led actions against PTI, and the role of intelligence agencies were also addressed in the letter.

While PTI leaders have described the letter as a direct appeal for policy changes, there has been no official response from the government or the military.

Imran Khan’s Letter to the Chief Justice

In a separate development, Imran Khan recently sent a detailed 349-page letter to Chief Justice Yahya Afridi and Justice Aminuddin, addressing alleged human rights violations, electoral fraud, and the arrests of PTI workers.

Khan claimed that PTI workers faced forced disappearances, injuries, and extrajudicial killings. According to Express News, the letter includes reports detailing alleged election rigging, human rights abuses, and the arrests of PTI members, particularly around November 26, 2024.

Khan stated that between November 24 and 27 last year, a significant number of PTI workers were detained. He also alleged that hospital records were sealed and later altered to conceal facts.

In his letter, Khan criticized the judiciary for failing to deliver justice despite repeated petitions regarding election fraud and ongoing human rights violations over the past 18 months. He accused the current government of coming to power through unconstitutional means and historic rigging, alleging severe oppression against PTI, including the demolition of party offices and the torture of its leaders.

“This unconstitutional regime has unleashed unprecedented oppression on PTI, destroying our offices and subjecting our leaders to brutal treatment,” Khan wrote.
