1. Academy Inauguration and Key Attendees

The academy was inaugurated on February 11, 2025, at a ceremony attended by:

  • Dr. Muhammad Bakir Raja Dharejo, Deputy Commissioner of Sukkur.
  • Pir Muhammad Shah, Chairman of Lok Sahaitha and DIG Police.
  • Aamir Ghuori from the Sukkur Chamber of Commerce and other dignitaries.

2. Training Program and Selection Process

  • Initial Cohort: 17 athletes from Sukkur, Khairpur, Ghotki, and Larkana have been selected for the first batch.
  • Program Duration: An 11-month training regimen with free food and accommodation provided to participants.
  • Selection Criteria: Athletes were identified through a 5-kilometer competition organized by Lok Sahaitha on January 25, 2025, which saw participation from 35 candidates.

3. Objectives and Support

  • Goal: To equip athletes with skills to compete in national and international events, building on the success of Lok Sahaitha’s earlier Sukkur Marathon.
  • District Administration Backing: The Deputy Commissioner pledged full support, emphasizing the initiative’s role in nurturing athletic talent in Sindh.

4. Future Plans

  • Expansion: Lok Sahaitha aims to scale the program, potentially increasing the number of trainees and diversifying sports disciplines.
  • Community Impact: The academy seeks to address the lack of professional training infrastructure in rural Sindh, offering a pathway for athletes to pursue careers in sports.
